Community Partners, Inc.

And we have a winner!

After a rigorous summer and fall getting the word out about the first BrightBuilt Retrofit initiative, and a careful, thought provoking review of the applications received, the BrightBuilt Retrofit Board of Advisors unanimously selected Community Partners, Inc. of Biddeford, Maine to receive the BrightBuilt Retrofit Award.

Community Partners, Inc. (CPI) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit that has been providing direct support services to individuals with developmental disabilities since 1967. Programs include independent living, employment support, community inclusion services, and senior enrichment. People are supported residentially with a variety of housing options, from supported independent living to licensed facilities in communities throughout York, Cumberland, Androscoggin and Kennebec Counties. For more information, visit www.cpime.org.

Victory Avenue is a 3,000 sf house owned by Community Partners that contains 3 apartments lived in by CPI clients. The goal of the BrightBuilt Retrofit is to make changes to Victory Avenue that will result in a 50% or greater savings in energy. We anticipate these changes to include comprehensive air sealing, increased insulation in the basement, roof and walls and a review of mechanical systems.

This project will be unfolding over the winter of 2010-2011 with the hope of completing construction by summer 2011.

Stay tuned for more information about the project as we move forward!
